3 Things You Should Do After The Storm

Bad storms with damaging winds and rain are all too common in Metro Atlanta. Hurricane Irma was just the latest example of how bad they can be. When you are going through the bad weather the only thing you can think about is getting through it, but what do you do when it is over?

Here are 3 important things you should do after the storm passes?

1. If you suspect any major structural damage, turn off the power and gas to your home to help prevent fires and explosions. Have a trusted contractor inspect the damage immediately.

2. Keep away from downed power lines and report them to your utility company right away.

3.Continue to listen to the news or updates on your weather radio for updated information on local conditions, access to roads and areas to avoid.

Tips for Keeping Your Home Cool This Summer

Summer in Georgia is HOT!! The forecast seems to be hot, hot and even hotter every day of the week. The summer heatwave can be expensive when it comes to your energy bill. Keeping cool and lowering your power bill are important.

Here are a few tips for keeping your home cool this summer:

1. CEILING FANS: Yes, it seems simple, but it really does make an impact. If possible, install ceiling fans in every room of your home. This can allow you to set your thermostat a bit higher, but still feel comfortable in your home.

2. USE A THERMOSTAT TIMER: Be sure you aren’t running you’re A/C on full blast all day. When no one is home, there is no reason to waste all of that energy. Have your timer set to start cooling your house off shortly before you will arrive back home.

3. KEEP YOUR BLINDS CLOSED: Don’t let all that sunlight beam into your house and heat things up even more. Yes, the natural sunlight is nice, but limit the amount of time your blinds are open to help limit its heating affects.

It is important to know what to do when your property is damaged by a bad storm, accident or fallen tree. Promptly securing, tarping and boarding up your home or business is imperative. Here are 3 rules you should follow when it comes to emergency tarp & board up service.

1. DO NOT WAIT: Damages can grow quickly if you do not immediately tarp and/or board up your property after damage occurs.

2. KEEP ANIMALS OUT: Be sure that your home is fully boarded up to keep unwanted rodents and pests out of your home.

3. PROTECT YOUR ROOF: Proper roof inspection after damages occur is very important. Fully tarp your roof until all the repairs can be completed.

3 Tips To Help You Prepare For Spring Storms

Spring comes with lots of warm weather and budding flowers, but it also comes with serious storms. Spring storms can quickly become dangerous and hazardous. Proper preparation can help you stay safe and protect your property as well.

Here are 3 tips to help you prepare for Spring Storms:

1. STAY INFORMED: You should have an weather app or weather radio that can keep you abreast of any important weather alerts. You cannot simply depend on your TV because it won’t be available in the case of a power outage and will probably be powered off at night when you are sleeping.

2. BACK UP POWER SOURCE: Having back up power is very important. Power outages are so common during severe storms. For commercial businesses,  a backup generator and fuel can help to minimize downtime and profit loss.

3. RESTOCK YOUR EMERGENCY KITS: A fully stocked emergency kit can literally be a life saver. Be sure you have plenty of water, canned goods and opener, batteries, flash lights and a robust first aid kit.
