Preparing Your Home For Fall

Fall is such a beautiful time of year. This gentle transition to winter is great time to take care of some important home maintenance. Preparing your home for Fall is important and can save you headaches and money in the long run.

Here Are 3 Important Ways You Can Prepare For Fall:

1. Check Your Heating System

Do not wait until you need your furnace before checking it. Be sure you make a full test run, change/check your filters and have any necessary maintenance performed.

2. Winterize Your Home

Block drafts and air leaks to keep your heat in your home. Replace seals and repair caulking around window and door frames. Properly winterizing your home can save you a lot on you energy bills.

3. Yard & Garden Upkeep

Clean and store summer garden tools. Check trees for rotting and give them a good trim. Clear leaves from lawn, reseed patchy areas, and plant spring flowering bulbs.

Tips For Preparing Your Home For Fall

Fall brings more than a change in the color of the leaves. It also brings changes in temperatures and weather patterns that you should prepare your home for. It’s also a great time of year for certain types of maintenance projects. Preparing your home for the fall season does not have to be challenging if you are well informed and well prepared. Here are a few tips for preparing your home for fall:

1.  HAVE YOUR HVAC UNITS SERVICED. Your furnace will get a lot of use and your A/C probably was heavily used all summer. It’s a perfect time of year to have both systems checked and serviced.

2. CLEAN THE GUTTERS. Those leaves look pretty, but can wreak havoc on your gutters. Clogged gutters can lead to big problems, so be sure they are debris free before winter comes around.

3. PROPERLY SEAL THE WINDOWS & DOORS. Once you turn on the heat for the winter, you want to keep that heat inside your home. Leakage from doors and windows can cost a lot in extra energy usage.

Of course we want you to enjoy the beautiful autumn season, but don’t forget to take a little time out for home preparation. Your home is such a valuable and treasured investment, so take good care of it.
